Payment & Billing Information
New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission Authorized Rates
The New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (NHPUC) authorized Bedford Waste Services in 2024 to charge $238.19 per quarter. Additionally, there is a quarterly temporary-to-permanent surcharge of $7.59 and a quarterly rate case expense surcharge of $51.14 per quarter for 12 quarters (through the October 2026 billing). Documents supporting these rates can be found here.
Billings
We generally bill customers on the first day of the quarter for the prior quarter (e.g., January 1 for the fourth quarter). Payment is due upon presentation. Bills not paid within 30 days from the postmarked date will be charged interest at the rate of 1% per month until payment is received.
Trouble Paying?
If you are unable to pay, please call Stephen P. St. Cyr at (207) 423-0215 to make a payment arrangement. If no payment nor payment arrangement is made, Bedford Waste Services will take all legal actions available to it including collections, small claims court, and liens.
Failure to Pay
Payments to Bedford Waste are made for services already rendered.
Bills not paid within 30 days from the postmark date shall bear interest at the rate of 1% per month until payment is received. If, after 30 days, the bill is unpaid and no payment arrangement has been made, Bedford Waste will issue a mid-quarter billing with the addition of a finance charge. If the balance remains unpaid after 60 days with no payment arrangement, Bedford will add a collection fee ($50.00). After 90 days unpaid, Bedford will add an administrative fee ($200.00) in order to pursue the matter in small claims court. Court fees, sheriff fees, lien fees, attorney fees and other fees may also be added to the account. Page 6 and 6a of the Bedford Waste Tariff provide additional details and can be found here.
In accordance with PUC 1203.08, financial hardship customers are not subject to late charges and penalties.
Sold Your Home?
If you sell your house, please notify Bedford Waste Services of the closing date in order for us to prepare and issue a final billing. You are responsible of the costs of sewer service until you notify us of the change.
Moving In?
If you recently purchased a home in our service area, the seller or their real estate agent should have already notified us about the sale. All you have to do now is sit tight and wait for our welcome letter! If it’s been a couple months since the closing date and you still haven’t received that welcome letter, please notify Bedford Waste Services.
